Have you wondered if men can have their eyebrows microbladed? The short answer is yes, absolutely! Microblading can be performed on all genders, with some minor differences in the technique. I believe eyebrows are such a big part of our personality, and I love looking at how eyebrows can compliment your facial expression and overall look. I have seen so many times how eyebrows can completely change people's looks. Especially when the new shape opens up your eye area and gives this little facelift. And of course when eyebrows are performed on individuals that have no hair due to a disease or other things that have affected their hair growth. Men tend to have thicker and bushier eyebrows, and microblading can really help when the eyebrows start thinning.
What is Microblading For Men?
If you have read about what microblading is then you should already know the basics. Since microblading for all genders is the same treatment with a few exceptions, depending on the desired final result. Microblading for men is a treatment that enhances their natural eyebrows and shape. The treatment is performed with a special manual tool, the artist cuts the skin, inserts a special pigment and creates hair strokes. The hair strokes look almost identical to your hairs and should in all cases follow your hair growth the when done well. The hair strokes should act as a subtle enhancer to the eyebrows.
Can All Men Have Their Eyebrows Microbladed?
Yes, most men can have their eyebrows microbladed. The same rules apply for all genders and the exceptions can be due to some diseases, cancer treatment, pregnancy, breastfeeding, some medications, skin diseases, or other medical related matters. It is always very important to discuss with your doctor and the microblading artist if you are going through some illness or taking specific medications. Never take those things lightly since it can heavily affect your healing process or even cause some complications.
What Is The Difference of Microblading For Men and Women?
In theory, there is no difference in the treatment. The shape will most likely be drawn differently, depending on each individual's style. Some men like them very thick and bushy, while others like them more shaped and thin. Ask the microblading artist to draw the eyebrows exactly like you want before starting the treatment. There are two things to mention from my experience. Always choose a warmer toned pigment. Men's skin tends to be thicker and the pigment can heal more “cool” toned. The microblading artist might also use a different type of blade so that the hair strokes look thicker and not as fine. Since men's eyebrow hairs are usually thicker, the hair strokes need to match.
What Is The Price For Microblading For Men?
The price can differ a lot between cities and between microblading artists. Do your research and be aware if the price is too low. That can possibly mean that the microblading artist is not using quality products, for example. Always thoroughly research the salons in your area and compare prices and experience. Sometimes it can also be worth it to travel to see a specialist. Not all microblading artists are comfortable or have experience doing microblade treatments on men. My experience is that the price can vary from $300 - $1,500. This is very dependent on the city AND the artist, for example more for microblading in New York and LA, and less for microblading in San Antonio. So as mentioned, do some research and just remember that higher price does not necessarily mean that the artist is better, but could mean they are very experienced and are using high quality products. In this industry, it depends a lot on the demand in each city as well.
Can All Microblading Specialists perform Microblading For Men?
Qualified and experienced microblading artists should be able to do microblading for men. However, not everyone will want to. Though the treatment is very similar, it is still not exactly the same. The outcome is different, and some artists have specialized in very fine shapes with very fine needles or microblading knives and are not comfortable with thick and bushy eyebrows.
How Long Does Microblading for Men last?
How long the microblading will last can be very individual. It can depend on many factors, actually. I would say that firstly the microblade artist you choose needs to be qualified and experienced enough to perform the treatment professionally and well. The right pigments, the right pressure, and how the pigments are inserted are key factors of course. The next factor is skin type. If you have very oily skin, you will likely need to come for a touch up more often, somewhere between 6–9 months. Lifestyle can also play an important role in how long your microblade last. If you respect the aftercare process, show up in your second appointment which should take place on average 6 weeks after your first one and your skin is in good shape, you should be good to go for the next 18–24 months. Then we recommend going for one appointment to refresh your microblade.
What is The Aftercare for Microblading for Men?
The aftercare is the same for all genders, of course. The most important factors for the first 7 -10 days or until the scab period has ended are:
- Be careful not to get your eyebrows wet
- No heavy exercising. You can read more about it here
- No sunbathing
- If you live in a sunny area it is a good idea to wear sunglasses and even a hat
- No swimming
- No sauna
- No touching your eyebrows with your fingers
- Wash your hands regularly in case you accidentally touch your eyebrows
- Clean pillowcase
- Use the aftercare cream your artist will give you
- The first 3 days can be good to boil water, cool it and wipe your eyebrows with a cotton pad
- Your microblade artist will give you thorough instructions, just follow that and you will be good
It is very critical to follow the instructions that your microblade artist will give you after your appointment. The final look can be affected if not taken seriously, and also remember the skin has been opened with a knife, so it is important to keep bacteria away. I would also recommend to get well known with how to prepare for your microblading treatment.
If you have decided to go and get your eyebrows microbladed, I wish you the best of luck in the process! I am sure you will not regret it.
